Fluorine - the tooth regulator
Beautiful teeth ...
The major task of fluorine lies in the buildup of bones and teeth. For a healthy development of the teeth children need enough fluorine. In the past children were recommended to supplement fluorine - nowadays is it tried to achieve this with fluorine-containing tooth pastes. However, with fluorine the dosage has to be attended to. With no trace element the difference between beneficial and dangerous dosage is so tight than with fluorine! If you can observe white spots on children´s teeth, they take too much fluorine. Too big amounts - 0,5 to 2 g - can lead to depressions and finally be lethal.
We take fluorine at about 25 % from our food, the rest we get through the drinking water.
